UNESCO: World Heritage Sites

world_heritageHeritage is our legacy from the past, what we live with today, and what we pass on to future generations. Our cultural and natural heritage are both irreplaceable sources of life and inspiration.
Places as unique and diverse as the wilds of East Africa’s Serengeti, the Pyramids of Egypt, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and the Baroque cathedrals of Latin America make up our world’s heritage.

What makes the concept of World Heritage exceptional is its universal application. World Heritage sites belong to all the peoples of the world, irrespective of the territory on which they are located.

So just for fun, I thought it would be about time to actually look at how many we’ve visited – and how many more we’ve got to go on this seemingly endless list. They are listed below by region (as defined by UNESCO)

As of Oct2014 we’ve currently visited 67 sites out of a total 0f 1007.  I think it’s time to get cracking! Another good excuse to hit the road.

I have visited 67 UNESCO World heritage sites
